Pick From Drop Down List Excel

When the cell containing the drop down list is selected youll see a down arrow button to the right of the cell.

Pick from drop down list excel. Select format fill option. In the data validation dialogue box within the settings tab select list as validation criteria. Click the down arrow button to drop down the list of options and select one.

Go to the data tab on the ribbon then click data validation. To add an item to a drop down list go to the items and select an item. In source field select the cells which have the items that you want in the drop down.

The down arrow button only displays when the cell is selected. Now select the cell under subcategory and just write the formula in data validation and click ok. Select the red colour and click ok. Select the lists cell and open the drop down menu to pick from the available options.

Tip to adjust the range of cells that appear in the drop down list press name manager on the formulas tab choose the name you assigned your list and edit the cell range in the refers to box. Select specific text option and select the cell for colour as in this case red. Right click and then click insert.

Repeat the process for all the options like green and blue and your list will be shown like in below snapshot. Go to data data tools data validation.
